Introduction

Swami Premananda is an enlightened master of the East who encourages spiritual seekers to find the Divine within themselves. His name means the master of divine love (Prema) and supreme joy (Ananda).

Swamiji was born in 1951 in central Sri Lanka. His extraordinary spiritual power and knowledge was apparent from his childhood. He renounced the world at the age of 17 and started his spiritual mission. He has helped thousands of people of all religions and nationalities. Swamiji says that it is his mission to show you that God exists and encourage you all to start out on the spiritual path.

Swamiji gives many teachings for a happy, healthy and wholesome life. Those who follow his practical and down to earth guidelines come from all over the world. They belong to all racial, ethnic and religious groups. His teaching is universal. It encompasses all religions and cannot be attributed to any particular method or system. His way is spontaneous, natural and practical. His main principles are love for the Divine in whatever form you prefer, purification of the mind through service or simple, spiritual practises. All his advice centres around constantly remembering the Divinity within your own heart in every action and at all times.

Even though he is widely acclaimed as an enlightened Master, Swami Premananda talks and interacts with us like an ordinary person so that we can feel a sense of kinship with him. Some, including those who have never met him, have had spiritual experiences whereby Swamiji's divine nature has been shown to them. Many others have been cured of physical and mental problems or they have found solutions to various worldly dilemmas through his mystical intervention. After experiencing Swami Premananda, many have discovered that they have a better appreciation, understanding and trust in the teaching of their own religions. Some gain a deeper feeling for the unversality of religious experience.

Swami has time for everyone to discuss their inner feelings, hopes and spiritual ideas. He has a special gift for all - from the smallest child, to the student, the family man, the career girl, single parent... everyone, from every walk of life, from any background or country will benefit from his practical and down to earth advice. He is indeed remarkable spiritual presence in our time. Despite his popularity, Swamiji retains his endearing qualities of simplicity, humility and a childlike joyfulness.

Swamiji's main spiritual centre is in Tamil Nadu, South India, and there are many Sri Premananda Centres around the world.
