This is verse number of 8 of the ancient poem called
"Soundarya Lahari" (which literally means "Overwhelming
with Divine Splendour"). This is a highly philosophical Sanskrit
poem of great precision which adores the glory of the Divine Mother.
The text was composed by Adi Shankara and contains 100 mantras which
invoke Her blessings. Each mantra is said to have special powers
and effects.
The Translation
The few who adore You, O Divine Mother, are
truly fortunate
You overwhelm us with blissful consciousness
Resting on the glory that is Shiva the Supreme One
In the chamber of wish-fulfilling jewels
In the midst of the garden of pleasure
Situated in the Island of Gems
Which is bordered by swaying rows of holy Kalpaka trees
and floats in the Ocean of the Divine Nectar.
This verse has a deep, symbolic meaning. It describes
the rising of the spiritual kundalini force in the body. When this
great force reaches the highest place at the crown of the head,
it creates the bliss-consciousness beyond the body and mind which
is very often described by Swamiji. Swamiji very strictly says that
you should never try to force the kundalini power to rise in the
body. This will happen and slowly under the guidance of a true guru.
