Jnanalingam

Jnana means knowledge in the highest sense - that is wisdom born of the loftiest consciousness. The Lingam is the symbol of Lord Shiva, the auspicious Divinity. For devotees of our spiritual teacher, Swami Premananda, the Lingam is a familiar form. It actually represents the universal energy that exists in all forms of life. This all-pervading energy is formless and without beginning or end. The egg-shaped Lingam is the closest form to represent this concept. Thus, Jnanalingam means the supreme consciousness represented by a sacred form. We may talk and write or learn complicated philosophies about religion or spirituality but, in fact Jnanalingam is the embodiment of simplicity and pure knowledge. When one contemplates the Jnanalingam, one realizes that philosophy and clever words are merely tools. The reality of Jnanalingam must be realized within. It is beyond philosophy and beyond description. The reality we search is beyond name or form. To make this our own realization we can contemplate the special form of the Lingam and reach beyond to the true Self.
