Mathan (Tamil), Madhan, Madhana (Sanskrit, M)

This is a name of Sri Krishna with His attractive quality as the God of love. Yet this is no ordinary love. Because of His nature, which is of endless bliss and perfect sweetness, Sri Krishna captures the heart and soul. Described as Madhana, He represents infinite joy without external cause. There is no lasting joy in the temporary, limited and finite love that we know in the material world. But Madhana is suffused with a tremendous love that is perfect, whole, steady and unbreakable that stems from within and springs from meditation on the Eternal Self. This is the quality that makes Sri Krishna so attractive for millions of devotees - He is Love, His magnetic form is that of Love and one is constantly drawn, fascinated, to His compelling form.

So how can we always see life as full of bliss, like Madhan? We will not see the all-attracting love with our physical eyes but only through opening the inner eyes. This is a love born out of meditation. Witness the mind and the moment it is free of thoughts the door of bliss opens. Your world will change into another of higher consciousness and then you will know the intoxicating love that is Madhana, the God of Pure Love who draws all souls to melt in anandam.

"Those who are even a little aware of their higher nature can experience, know and understand the reality of true love."

Swami Premananda, Premananda Satsang volume 7
