Saras

means one who is ever flowing from the great Divine Source. The spiritual flow is that of supreme knowledge, wisdom and pure speech. Saraswati is the name of the consort of Brahma, the Lord of Creation. She presides over spiritual knowledge, the arts and meaningful speech. Saras, the flow, also represents the Sushumna Nadi, which rests within everyone's subtle spiritual body. This fine passage is the final stage on the spiritual path, leading to the door of liberation, the Moksha Dwara. The sacred Indian River Saraswati joins two other holy rives (The Ganges and the Yamuna). These blessed waters have special spiritual properties and have had much influence on all Hindus. Finally, Saras represents the setting of the sun, the twilight period of dusk, which is a highly auspicious time for sincere sadhana.
